Intro
A “consultation” is normally a scheduled activity to provide guidance to the Client (e.g., a meeting at 2pm on Tuesday). It normally has a firm starting time and may or may not have a firm ending time.
With/without representation
If the guidance occurs during representation, it is normally concerning an event in the Client’s case. It is not the event itself.
Note
In this instance, the representation is the service. The consultation is a standard service related to the representation. More information on those services available at this link.
If the guidance occurs without representation, it is normally concerning a decision the Client may need to make, whether or not there is a case pending.
Note
In this instance, the consultation is the service itself. More information on the service is available at this link.
Persons and place involved
The consultation normally involves a group of people, including but not limited to the Client and an attorney with SRL (e.g., the Client, his mother, and his assigned attorney).
The consultation normally takes place at SRL (e.g., meeting at SRL office) or through SRL (e.g., a call or Zoom through SRL staff).
Whether included in flat fee
The consultation is included in a flat fee if:
It says that on the Terms form (e.g., the consultation box is checked); or
It is concerning an included event on the Terms form (e.g., preliminary hearing is listed), whether or not it says that on the Terms form.
