Event

Intro

An “event” is normally a scheduled activity at or for which the Client has or wants help from SRL (e.g., preliminary hearing at 2pm on Tuesday). It normally has a firm starting time and may or may not have a firm ending time.

The help is normally in the form of representation by SRL. It may also include an appearance without representation (e.g., appearance at event in civil litigation involving representation by another firm).

Persons and place involved

The event normally involves a group of people in addition to or other than the Client from inside and outside SRL (e.g., a trial, hearing/argument, or court event calling for judge, prosecutor, defendant, and defense attorney to appear; an interview with an police officer during a criminal investigation).

The event normally takes place at a location other than SRL (e.g., hearing at courthouse) or through an office other than SRL (e.g., a call or Zoom through court staff).

Whether included in flat fee

The event and services related to the event (i.e., appearance, consultation, preparation) are included in a flat fee only if the event is on the Terms form or at the discretion of SRL.
