Intro
All payments must be timely. This includes payment of any flat fee for standard services and any initial or supplemental retainer or bill for non-standard services. This also includes payment of the cost for any expenses.
Form and due date
For any payment to be timely, it must be:
In a form acceptable to SRL; and
Made by a due date or upon demand, whichever occurs first.
Generally, SRL accepts payments by cash, check, money order, credit card, debit card, or cashier’s check. But SRL reserves the right to demand a particular form of payment.
Prepayment
SRL may at its discretion demand prepayment of any fee or cost. If prepayment is demanded, it may be in an amount equal to the total fees and costs SRL estimates may be required to complete work on the case, including through any trial or appeal.
The likelihood of any such demand depends in part on whether SRL anticipates a financial or other problem.
For example
SRL may demand payment of
A flat fee or retainer for services/expenses beyond the scope of a Terms form for potential future services/expenses (e.g., fee for trial, cost for expert).
A retainer (e.g., for cost of investigator), whether or not it is demanded on a Terms form.
